Jennifer Tejada: Behind One of the Most Powerful Women in the SaaS Space

Jennifer Tejada is the Chief Executive Officer of PagerDuty, a San Francisco, Calif.-based company which provides software intended to help its customers manage digital operations and quickly resolve incidents. She is a star figure in the SaaS world, and in Silicon Valley at large, bringing with her about two decades’ worth of experience in leading software companies as both a board director and a C-suite level executive.

Prior to landing at IT startup PagerDuty in 2016, Tejada served as the President and CEO of digital performance management platform Keynote Systems, which was acquired by Dynatrace in June 2015. Before this, she held leadership roles at firms including Mincom, now part of ABB Enterprise Software, Merivale, Telecom New Zealand/AAPT, and Procter & Gamble.

Tejada serves on the board of Puppet Labs, a market leader in software for IT Automation and Orchestration, and is actively involved in the tech startup community, mentoring CEOs, founders and investors across sectors.

At PagerDuty, Tejada is working to build the company’s reach outside of the booming DevOps space. The firm currently works with over 8,000 customers, including Airbnb, Google, Dell Technologies, and Lululemon. Backed by investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Accel Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners, PagerDuty has raised a total of $83.6 million from four rounds of funding.

Upon the appointment of Tejada as CEO, Marc Andreessen of Andreessen Horowitz stated, “Adding Jennifer to PagerDuty is like adding octane to jet fuel.”

As part of a small, yet powerful group of female CEOs in a white male-dominated tech world, Tejada is a proponent of supporting diversity initiatives.

“To the extent we can demonstrate through delivering results, and showing you can build a rich and successful and engaged culture on the back of diversity, even if you have to look a little harder for it, there's an opportunity for me to make an impact,” said the PagerDuty CEO.
