San Jose-based Nutanix announced the launch of a new channel partnership program with Lenovo aimed at targeting key mid-market partnerships.
The program, dubbed the Velocity Program, will accelerate the selling process, as well as provide built-in incentives and marketing support for strategic channel partners in the mid-market. The program has been available worldwide since the company’s June announcement.
In releasing this offering, Nutanix is attempting to defend against public cloud-only models by providing a lower cost, secure software solution that is seamless and elegant.
As part of the Velocity program the company will partner with Lenovo to provide software-ready product bundles that integrate with enterprise customers. The bundles will cater directly to those customers using the Lenovo HX appliance.
The bundles, known as Lenovo ThinkAgile HX Certified Nodes, are also customizable, allowing customers to optimize and customize content to conform to their organization’s goals and objectives.
As an additional feature of the Lenovo program, clients are given the option of purchasing software licenses in accordance with their business needs. For example, customers can purchase a Nutanix license separately from the Lenovo Platform offerings.
This is not the first joint partnership for Nutanix in recent years. The company also partnered with IBM in 2017 to develop data center hardware by integrating IBM Power Systems for business apps.
Nutanix is a global leader in infrastructure solutions and cloud software. Founded in 2009 by Dheeraj Pandey, Mohit Aron and Ajeet Singh, Nutanix reached unicorn status in 2013 with a valuation of $1 billion. The company issued an IPO in September of 2016 and raised approximately $230 million in the wake of the announcement. Nutanix reported a net loss of $126 million in the fiscal year ending July 2015.
Nutatnix has also previously acquired several companies, PernixData in 2016, which developed software for virtualizing server-side flash memory and RAM, and Minjar in 2018, which provides cloud implementation and big data consulting.
Lenovo is a multinational technology conglomerate with offices in Beijing, China and Morrisville, North Carolina. The company produces a wide portfolio of products, from smartphones and tablets to AR/VR and smart home and office solutions.
